Mochi is a crowd favorite. Traditionally in East Asian countries, it is often made with mugwort (艾草, Ai), an important healing herb that warms the meridians and the uterus to treat dysmenorrhea, infertility, and to stabilize the fetus. Even though it plays a major role in women's health, men can absolutely also have it, especially those with a cold constitution. Here is a reicipe for you to incorporate mugwort in this naturally gluten-free, vegan dessert!
Fresh aloe and pear are both fantastic ingredients to cool heat and hydrate our body. If consumed together raw, these ingredients might be too cooling for the body in cold weather. Poaching the pear brings some warmth into it; we encourage you to try this light fruit dessert when you feel dry and heated! This recipe is sponsored by #alodrink. Masterchef, Fred Chang, designed this beautiful mosse tart, pulling from three different threads of inspirations. The first was fruit cake, the second, eggnog, and the third, snow. He opted for a rum spiked short crust tart, knowing the alcohol in the rum would evaporate and create a flakier finish. For his filling, he went with buckwheat frangipane. Frangipane is normally an almond cream that is baked, and has a cakey-texture to it.See our full interview with Fred Chang, here.
We are almost never happy with store bought granola that are hard and usually way too sweet. This is our take on this classic breakfast item. With the addition of goji, sesame oil and seeds, and ginger, this granola not only tastes amazing, but also contains TCM wisdom and benefits. Freshly backed granola is always better! It is super easy to make. Enjoy!
